Dentures

Dentures also known as false teeth, are removable prosthesis which may replace all the teeth in one or both jaws, or fit false teeth around the natural teeth. Apart from replacing missing teeth, dentures also help to restore smiles and jaw position, fill out the face and restore the bite.

Partial dentures may be used to replace one or more teeth and can be anchored to natural teeth with a metal clasp or complete acrylic. Depending on the case it is possible to have a complete acrylic denture or a combination of metal and acrylic- cobalt chrome. The advantage of including metal in the denture is that it may be smaller, covering less of the soft tissue i.e gums, and therefore more comfortable to wear and eat with.

Dentures not only improve appearance, they also prevent remaining teeth from drifting and moving out of position and thus preventing further tooth loss.
